Default LOTR Online?

I know somebody beta testing it right now... looks pretty good, and if given a choice, I'd probably take it over WoW/EQ based on my more general knowledge of what the hell is going on.

Thoughts?

The NDA was released a few days ago so people in the closed beta have been able to talk about it. You can find a lot of people's opinions about it all over the internet right now. From what I've read most people are saying they did an excellent job making it similar enough to WoW to steal people away, while at the same time making it its own game that really puts you into the LotR world. I haven't given it a lot of thought, but I'm strongly considering picking it up when it comes out or even preordering it. They have annouced that people who preorder are going to be allowed to move their open beta character over to a live server when it rolls out.

When I first heard about LOTR Online I went to the website and was rather disappointed by the graphics. The character animations in particular really didn't look very good.

Obviously the LOTR world is full of neat potential for a good MMORPG but so did the Star Wars universe and the Matrix universe, and look at those games. Basically there's alot more to a game than neat source material.

From what I here from friends it's like WoW only more simplified and combat isn't as exciting. Lots of quests, a good amount of polish.

There's an open stress test 23-26th on gamespot.com.

I'll give it a whirl then.
