Default Three Barrel???

Bodog.

600 6 handed NL, villian and I have around $600 each.

I probably have a pretty tight image. I open raise from the button with 45s to $19. Small blind calls. Big blind folds. Small blind appears to be playing somewhat scared.

Flop comes Ac Ks 9h

SB checks I bet around $35 and he calls.

Turn Ac Ks 9h 2d

He quickly checks. I really thought if I made a pot sized
bet he would fold so I bet around $100 and of course he calls.

River brings Ac Ks 9h 2d 9s

He quickly checks. What is my best play and why?

Bruce

Of course it's a horrible card but if I check, unless villian is a bigger idiot than me, I'll lose virtually 100% of the time. Is it possible for me to take him off his hand? Normally I would check and just give up, but I'm in the middle
of the Sklansky/Miller book, where they discuss playing against weak tight players and how we should be putting them
in difficult spots with pressure betting.

I personally usually give up with one barrel when I get called in spots like this.

There aren't that may scare cards that can come on the turn or the river. That 2d certianly isn't scary.

Basically if I'm 3 barreling it is in spot where a lot of draws have missed, or the board gets so scary that most made hands can't call. Obviously it depends on whether I put them on a made hand or a draw.

When I'm two barreling, it's usually when a scare card comes. Like and over card to the board. Or, the board was so drawy, that they are rarely just calling with a very strong hand on the flop (but in this case, I'm often set to 3-barrel them when I make the decision to fire the 2nd barrel.)

This is a bad mentality. This is a need to win every pot, which usually just results in spew. Sometimes it's better to lose what you've already invested 100% of the time, then lose a lot more a large percentage of the time.

I decided to push on the river and villian timed out and folded. Retrospectively I believe my play was pretty dumb but I guess it's better to be lucky than smart. With the board pairing unless I'm against an absolute moron, this is more than likely a very -EV play.
