dare i say that making this fold actually makes you a better player than most. It's good that you can make this fold, a lot of idiots lose their stacks here.

caveat: I will obviously push vs maniacs

Yes, I usually loose my stack here.

Except when I win...

this is JT or hearts running the free card play or KQ enough that you need to call this.

I would lean towards calling and bet/folding the turn.

How can this be a free card play when he's not in position?

Is your plan to give him 10 more dollars before you fold to his turn bet?

Remember that when you move up everything "costs" double.
All of a sudden going all-in costs $50 instead of $25 and that sounds a lot if you are used to the lower numbers.

It is important to learn to think in terms of BB and not absolute numbers.

I remember when I was at the lower stakes always wondering how the players at the higher ones were willing to risk "so much" on one hand. This is, of course, an illusion.

I'd agree with the others that say your flop betting probably looks weak. Maybe not just this hand? 1/2 to 2/3 cbets on Stars are going to get tested and floated more. If you're going to bet or raise make sure you get the intended result.

I think there are definately differences at the lower levels between these sites. At Stars you have a BUNCH of levels before 50NL for beginners to bust out at, grind, and learn. I rarely see the junk plays I hear talked about here.

There are still plenty of fish to go around. But you will bump into more players that will find your leaks, and pounce on weakness.

I bet pot fold to raise. As played fold it and get a read. Mostly because you are OOP and if he decides to take it on the turn or river you have very little to work with.

Good Luck. Been hammered a few times moving up myself. First time I hit 100NL lasted 9 hands Oops.
