Default Re: Quick Question about cold-calling

more importantly, what hands are you coldcalling with? what types of opponents do you coldcall against? what odds do you need to have or expect to receive to coldcall with any given hand? these are the questions you should ask.

in SSHE stakes you should be cold calling 1/550 which would be 0.18% Is this not right (sorry I'm new to this section of the forum)

Am I the only one that thinks 0.9/1000 = 0.09%??? Not 0.9 or 0.009%?

I cold call significantly more often than this.

But I play primarily live games where there are lots of people to the flop.

If there is a raiser and one caller, I cold call with any pocket pair (reraising the big ones, of course) In the loose games I play in live, once there is a raiser, one caller, and me calling, I can pretty much expect both blinds and probably even another LP cold caller. This is more than enough to flop a set with.

With a raiser and two or more cold callers, I open it up quite a bit, and cold call with any big to medium suited connectors as well. Basically 87s and above. But that's because I know my game conditions and playing tendencies of my opponents, and know that I can outplay them postflop with these types of hands.

(But live play is a different beast than online! There's nothing quite like the rush of hearing a dealer say "9 players in"! )
