Default 3bet turn?

Party Poker 15/30 Hold'em (6 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums)

Preflop: Hero is BB with 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].
3 folds, Button calls, SB completes, Hero checks.

Flop: (3 SB) 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (3 players)
SB checks, Hero bets, Button folds, SB calls.

Turn: (2.50 BB) 3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players)
SB checks, Hero bets, SB raises, Hero calls.

River: (6.50 BB) T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players)
SB bets, Hero calls.

Final Pot: 8.50 BB

I'm pretty sure he doesn't have a hand that's willing to cap on this board.

I wouldn't do it with no reads. He will cap you if he has a monster and perhaps fold a worse hand. I'll just wait and raise the river if I hit.

Since the pot is so tiny you can also consider checking behind on the flop and raising any turn if someone bets.

Maybe I am old school/simplistic but I consider this for exactly 1 nanosecond before I line up my mouse over the bet button and click.

you played it fine i think.

i think 3betting turn is not a good idea for reasons stated above, and you can riase the river to get more money out of him if you spike.

I think what it boils down to is wheher or not getting two bets in 20% of the time when I hit my flush is of greater value than three betting the turn, which would cost ~.65 a BB depending on my hidden outs and getting a free SD when I want one and valuebetting when I improve.

I think 3betting for a free SD is not the best plan here, you have to work pretty hard to overcome:

1) the extra bet you make when he bluffs the river when he's on air, since folding out a bluff does you little good since he has so few outs usually
2) the times he's bluffing/semibluffing and makes a 2nd best hand on the river and you put multiple bets in
3) you'll get to raise when you hit often anyway on the river
4) the fact that you open yourself up to getting moved off the best hand in some way shape or form, or getting valued to death by an overaggro opponent w/ bottom 2.

I think 3-betting here is a big mistake.
