Default Tutorial: How to auto-import Stars HHs into Poker Tracker

One time setup stuff

1. First you need an email account that is pop-enabled. Gmail works for this. I have 99 invitations I can send out so if you'd like an account there, PM me and I will invite you.

2. Using Gmail (you'll have to do this on your own if you have another email provider), enable pop. Click settings, then Files and Forwading. Enable pop for all mail that arrives from now on and if the auto-importing ever stops working, come here and disable, then re-enable pop for mail arriving from now on.

3. Set up the jazz in Poker Tracker.

Go here:

And set it up like this:

4. Make sure you are saving HHs to your hard drive.

In Poker Stars, go to:

And set it up like:

When you want to import HHs

1. Import the HHs from your hard drive into Poker Tracker

There are other ways to do it but I use:

Set the HH folder to the same as you used in Stars. (This part is actually a 1 time setup thing.)

And click Force Import. It will import all the HHs it finds. These are only basic HHs though, they don't contain all the info you need to keep good stats. So...

2. Request Stars send you the full HHs.

Go here:

And click Auto Request Tournament Summaries.

Click Select All and then Request Now.

Sometimes I have to click Stop and then Start again for a tournament to get requested. But eventually, they should all come through successful.

3. Import the full HHs into PokerTracker.

Go here:

And Check POP3 email.

It checks your email and finds the tournament summaries. Check the check-box so everything gets auto-checked in the future. You'll have to select them all by hand the first time. Click Import.

The End

That's it; you're done. If you have any questions or would like a Gmail account, feel free to PM me.

Nice post wiggs. This should be in the FAQ. I wish someone had done this a year ago. It took me 6 months to figure this out on my own

I am new to poker tracker and only use it for tracking my sng progress (roi, itm, etc). What is the purpose of importing the HH? Is it only for tracking oppentent's fishiness or what?

Thanks for the post. Did you change the default por # specifically for gmail or is it computer specific (ie will that be my port # too or will it still be 110?)

Very good tutorial!

I have the same setup, but I find that often the autorequest in PT doesn't work.

That is why I now go to the Pokerstars lobby and from there go to request->tournament history where I can manually write how many tourneys (up to 200) I want them to send to my gmail. That seems to work a lot faster.

After they have sent me the history (a PokerStars pop-up informs me of that), I follow the tutorial.

I have everything set up the same way. But sometimes after I request a bunch of tournament summaries stars will stop sending me them and say my mailbox is full when it is clearly not. Does anyone else have this problem?

Whale,

The HHs stored on your hard drive don't have any finish info, so you have to enter it all by hand in PT. If you request full summaries then import from email, all the finish info for you (and others) is there.

bones,

The port # is email provider specific, not computer specific. So if you have Gmail, it should be 995 for you too. If you have another email provider, say Hotmail, you can probably google "Hotmail pop settings port" or some similar combo of words and find the # to use, or just PM me and I can get you on Gmail. 995 is pretty common though if SSL is being used and 110 is common if it isn't.

All,

I forgot to mention, if you PM me for a Gmail invitation, I need your current email address.

Does anybody know how to find the server name your e-mail resides on? Can you just e-mail your service provider and ask or can I find this in the settings on my PC somehow? (I have Comcast, in case anybody happens to know the server name off the top of their head.)
