Of course it will be more profitable. Software is better too. [/ QUOTE ] Are there Bet Pot & Auto-Reload type scripts like the ones available for Stars? (I can't imagine playing without these anymore.) |

i smoke the most while I gamble...I wont be able to quit without significantly cutting down on poker [/ QUOTE ] Nicotine is one of the few chemical compounds on the planet that has been shown through research to enable the synapses to fire at a faster rate. Basically chaining while playing poker actually enables you to think better and analyze the flow of information faster. The downside of this is that while most people don't realize that they are thinking better while they are under the influence of nicotine they do notice that performance has decreased when performing the same activity without nicotine and since humans have a distinct tendency to develop a strong psychological addiction to things that enhance our performance in those activities in which we regularly engage, we are much less likely to give up the substance and suffer that lack of performance. So does anybody think that I should get the custom title of "Walking Encyclopedia"? |

What are the other substances? [/ QUOTE ] I'll have to get hold of some people in the biochem field and check. I got the information on nicotine while looking over some sources for a high school acquaintances class paper on the effects of smoking and while the information was peer reviewed and by all accounts the research solid, the executive summary didn't mention the other known substances by name. The information about nicotine only came to light in the past two years or so. I also recall from a conversation about this topic with a friend that from what he could recall none of the substances was without negative side effects if used regularly. |

I know chess players are using aspirin, dilutes the blood or something similar and hence increases blood flow to the brain, and some amphetamines for endurance.

[/ QUOTE ] No, I'm just saying that your statement about quitting being difficult so long as you continued to play large amounts of poker has merit and explaining why. It's still very possible, you just have to be willing to accept that you will notice that you don't seem to be thinking as fast and clearly and accept the drop in mental performance long enough to quit. It should also be noted that any performance boost provided by nicotine is not so distinct that it cannot be equaled and exceeded by spending some time doing tasks specifically geared towards enhancing your short term memory and data manipulation skills. |
