Default Other obscure jobs out there?

I know someone who is planning on working in alaska for a couple of months on a boat to fish. He will make around 25k and will get free housing/meals etc. Im just wondering if there are any other of these obscure jobs not many know about out where you get good money/free housing and meals, but you basically work every day for long hours in a not so nice job (often times dangerous). Please don't mention driving trucks in iraq or military.

What about those jobs driving trucks across the frozen ice in Northern Canada? I read a Maxim (or FHM or Stuff) article about them once, sounds pretty sick. It's somewhat dangerous (the cold and the possibility of ice cracking) and just sounds like an insane drive; however, the facilities that they make delivieries to are apparantly awesome to stay at.

Fighting fires over the summer is one that comes to mind... although I have no information about it.

living in one of the poles for research. very sought after jobs even if your job is just to clean toilets. you're very isolated, but good camarderie, free food and housing plus pay. no first hand knowledge on this though. saw it on TV or in a documentary.

I had a fraternity brother who majored in Ag business. He fired out a million resumes to companies hiring in cool places. He ended up with a job in the Cayman Islands running a water desalinization plant. Had zero experience/knowledge in water desalinization.
