Default Deep sunday warm-up, Set on 4 straight board.

Posted this under "4 hands from the Sunday warm-up" but only one response so thought I would post separately. How is my line here?

Hand 1:

Poker Stars
No Limit Holdem Tournament
Blinds: t25/t50
9 players

Hero 11225
Villain 10200

Pre-flop: (9 players) Hero is MP2 with 8 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 8 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]
3 folds, Hero raises to t150, 3 folds, SB calls t125 (pot was t225), BB folds.

Flop: 7 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 5 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 6 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (t350, 2 players)
SB checks, Hero bets t200, SB calls t200 pot was t550).

Turn: 8 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (t750, 2 players)
SB checks, Hero bets t500, SB raises to t1000, Hero calls t500 (pot was t2250).

River: k [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (t2750, 2 players)
SB bets t1500, Hero calls t1500 (pot was t4250).

No reads, only 12 hands. Interested on turn decision mainly? Any reason to raise here given we are deep and 12 hands into tournament? River easy call??

Default Re: Deep sunday warm-up, Set on 4 straight board.

I play it the same, but always have that unease when there is four to a st8.

Then again, there are enough morons out there who wait for the turn to get aggro with their aa/kk to make this a standard play

With a rainbow flop, the only thing we are worried about is, a made st8. We are happy to have set over set, or set over overpair.

Turn bet is obvious.

After his raise, pot is 2250, and 500 to call. Even if he flipped over a st8 and showed us, we have odds to call!.

So, now the turn call is obvious.

As for raising the turn, is a worse hand calling (sets, yes) or a better hand folding (no way!). So i say no raise. If we feel he may have the st8, then if we boat up on the river, we should get paid off nicely.

And the river, well, for a half pot bet, i just cant see myself folding.

Of course, he will have poker nines or fours, but well played!

Your comments with regards to it being early are well thought out, but i usually wait until i see a retard doing a retard thing before i label them a retard. (learnt this the hard way)

Hope this helps
