Greatest Scorsese Movie of All Time - Championship

Personally I was a bit sad to see the greatest movie of Martys go down in the last round, but the championship still manages to match up two great films. Have at it.

I love how people are unable to just pick the movie they prefer out of two great movies, they have to bash the one that is not their choice.

They are BOTH great movies with substance, FFS. The fact that you like Taxi Driver better doesn't mean you can't like Goodfellas almost as much.

They are BOTH great movies with substance, FFS. The fact that you like Taxi Driver better doesn't mean you can't like Goodfellas almost as much.

I agree that both are excellent films. And I love them both. But Goodfellas really is more of a fun movie whereas Taxi Driver is a substantive film. It's like comparing "Pulp Fiction" to "Saving Private Ryan".
In the end, it's all about who's voting. Film critics would chose Taxi Driver, but most people will go for Goodfellas.

Taxi Driver is a MUCH better film on almost all levels in my opinion. The impression it leaves on a viewer lasts an extremely long time.
In all honesty, Goodfellas is a very good movie, but for it to win these polls is pretty ridiculous. It probably should have lost every round.

I seem to remember that Goodfellas won a movie critics' poll that asked them to name the best movie of the 1990s. You guys are acting like it's a little entertaining flick like Predator or something.

I understand that you think Taxi Driver is better, but Goodfellas is a great film as well, and I've never heard anyone imply it was a popcorn movie before.

I agree that Taxi Driver is the better film.

However, I often apply the "if I happen upon this movie while flipping channels, will I watch it to completion?" test, and Goodfellas wins this far and away.

I'm not referring to anyone in particular but I think 2+2's taste in movies is pretty snobish.
