I think it is kinda funny(not)/sad how all of us are forced to sit and watch and hope that our money is returned to us.

We were all so news starved for information that when something was tossed our way we were sated so easily.

[/ QUOTE ]

I don't think that its about hope... I have always believed that our money will be returned, and that has been confirmed... its only a matter of when and how...

[/ QUOTE ]

I guess I'm more pessimistic than you sniper, I did not read the neteller statement about the 75 days to issue a plan to imply that all funds were to be returned, simply that some or all might and at that time they would say how an when.... In other words I thought they left themselves wiggle room there....Of course I hope I am wrong.

[/ QUOTE ]

Neteller doesn't want any of your money... it would be the end for them... remember, they are still doing business with most of the rest of the world...

I believe they have already stolen it from us. This sort of business practice is extremely unethical. Could anyone imagine paypal doing something similar?

More bad news...

NETeller cancels its debit card option worldwide

http://www.theonlinewire.com/articleView.aspx?ID=2652

NETeller members worldwide will no longer be able to load their NETeller cards effective April 26 and use them to withdraw funds from ATMs as of May 2 2007.

"Due to the changes with NETeller card, the ability to transfer funds from a member account to the NETeller card has been restricted as of April 26, 2007 at 12 am (GMT) Members will no longer be able to load funds onto their card." NETeller customer service said in a note distributed Thursday.

"The ability to withdraw funds already on NETeller card at ATM machines and point-of-sales (POS) terminals will not be affected until May 2nd 2007. As of May 2nd, your NETeller debit card will no longer work." The note ends.

NETeller explained that "The third-party provider for the NETeller Card has very recently advised that under the rules relating to the Cirrus/Maestro Network, it can no longer support those branded cards."

NETeller non U.S. members can still withdraw funds via bank transfer and check. The peer to peer transfer option is also still available. The NETeller debit card was a major profit center for NETeller. Members were charged $2 for loading their cards and up to 3.8% for currency exchange where applicable.

Meanwhile the first hearing concerning the possible filing of charges against NETeller founders has been further delayed to May 16.

Well, doesn't it work out as you losing a couple percent in interest on your balances?

This recent update doesn't make much sense to me. There is nothing (that I could find) on the websites of Mastercard, Maestro, or Cirrus that mentions anything about online gambling.

Does anyone have any clue what these "rules relating to the Cirrus/Maestro Network" could be? The only possibility I can think of is that in response to the US Unlawful Internet Gambling Act, the Cirrus/Maestro Network has decided recently to move away from the online gambling industry worldwide.

According to this site (http://www.pokerlabrat.com/poker_payment_options.html):
"Using Credit Cards for online gambling is becoming more difficult due to legal restrictions for residents of certain countries & specific Card Scheme rules.
In general :
1. Mastercard customers are not able to withdraw winnings back to your MasterCard. (ie you can deposit funds but need to use an alternative
withdrawal method). Exception: Some UK issued Mastercards will still allow both deposits and withdrawals to/from gambling accounts"

Possibly, due to publicity of the recent case against the Neteller founders, the Cirrus/Maestro Network realized that Neteller users were using their cards to withdraw gambling winnings and has notified Neteller that it will no longer provide the company with its services? Although if that's the case, I don't understand why the debit cards would need to be discontinued in the UK.

Meh, on average, people who kept money sitting in Neteller, weren't concerned about earning interest on those funds. You could argue that there is lost opportunity cost, but in the aggregate, that probably balances out to a net positive to the players that couldn't lose their money

However, saying there is some impact, is very different than saying Neteller stole it all... and I wouldn't attribute the impact to Neteller in any case, when it is the DOJ that seems to be holding up the process.
