AK...how\'s my line?
Absolute Poker No Limit Holdem Ring game Blinds: $1/$2 6 players Converter Stack sizes: Hero: $301.53 UTG+1: $485 CO: $263.30 Button: $182.95 SB: $394.80 BB: $279.95 Pre-flop: (6 players) Hero is UTG with A K Hero raises to $8, UTG+1 calls, 3 folds, BB raises to $26, Hero calls, UTG+1 calls. Flop: A T 8 ($79, 3 players) BB checks, Hero bets $55, UTG+1 folds, BB calls. Turn: 2 ($189, 2 players) BB checks, Hero pushes all in? Not sure what to do here? My thought was that he had something like KK but why even call the flop bet? Not sure if aggression or passiveness is the play here. Thoughts appreciated. |

Re: AK...how\'s my line?
meh, UTG and UTG+1 called his PF bet, so i would think he would just give up with KK...so yea, a little strange, he might just be stubborn...
AK reraised pot --> i'm going broke here, he has one hand we're scared of, as played, shove turn |

Re: AK...how\'s my line?
also, having the suits might help, i'm guessing they weren't relevant here??
^^eh, i guess i could see a flop check, but with the intention of crai on turn right?? |

Re: AK...how\'s my line?
ehh, I dunno it's one of those spots that a read is really important for. but betting the flop really doesn't seem to have any value, esp. when hero bets like 4/5 pot. villain is either sandbagging AA, c/folding KK/QQ/JJ or you're chopping with AK. i just dont see any reason to bet. If i did bet it'd definitely be something small.
timing tells are crucial here imo. like if villain instachecked flop, I'd be a lot less likely to get AI against any turn action. |

Re: AK...how\'s my line?
The Villain was a good player, TAG. I felt I had to bet fairly big incase UTG+1 was holding an ace as well. When villain called, i put him on KK but I should have leaned more towards TT. Checking the turn would only commit me to pushing the river. Maybe a smaller turn bet and fold to an all in? Still really unsure about this hand.

Re: AK...how\'s my line?
I would value bet this turn not shove. I don't believe shoving does anything positive, it clearly comunicates to your opp that you have an ace. Therefore he calls if he can beat AK and otherwise folds.
If you are going to win this pot its because he has a weaker hand and is stubburn to fold. I would bet smaller and try to string him along. Why shove here? What does it do for you? |

Re: AK...how\'s my line?
Reads?
Calling preflop out of position with AK 150bb deep seems really bad: I would 4bet preflop. As played I would probably just bet the turn, if he is check calling with QQ or KK (unlikely) then he will probably call turn bet as well (ie there not much point checking turn to allow worst hands to bluff/get an extra bet on the river) |

Re: AK...how\'s my line?
The 4bet felt any AK in any position mindset is pretty retarded and is quite -EV readless imo.
First time this happens I'm just dropping it pre. |

Re: AK...how\'s my line?
Ok, So 4 betting preflop is a good or bad play? I have position on him seeing he is BB and i am UTG. What do I do if I bet turn and he raises me all in? What if I check turn and he bets out on river all in? Basically im trying to find a way that doesn't get me all in but I dont see one...
