Its dead because now your IP instead of the http-user gets baned after grabing ~100 hands.

Perhaps, if somebody finds a way to avoid the ip ban.

it took them less than a day to catch on to the thing. pretty sure they will shut down any new trick as well. so no mining from web at least.

I don't really understand how Roland's miner worked (altho it worked quite well), but I thought that it was somehow based on the HTML website that I brought up in my first post.

If that's the case, I don't understand how PR could ban by IP because when I'm actually playing, I check the HTML HH all the time (to see my opponent's hole cards when he calls)...and I'll sometimes check it 100 times or more in a session (i think). How am I able to do *that* without getting blocked? Or did Roland's miner work via some other method?

One more thing I just thought of...I know Roland wrote this miner for *only* PR, but what if he changed it to a different PR skin - there's like 200 of them...perhaps that other skin wouldn't be so fast to catch on (or would it not matter since they're all just drawing from PR's servers)?

The Miner grabs the hands from .html. Its principally the same as opening the hands in your web browser.

The handserver is for all skins the same. The miner was just "only" for PR and Hollywood, because at these skins the automatic hand# reading was supported.

If you open the hands from the poker software it just opens your browser with the needed url. But after 100 hands you opened with your web browser you get banned, too. Are you sure you opened more than 100 hands?

No, in fairness, I've probably never opened 100 hands in my web browser...but maybe 40 to 50 over a single session. But wait, if this theory is correct, then that means that if I open a pokerroom HH in my web browser and hit the "Previous" button 100 times, it will ban me? I find that hard to believe that they will bar you from requesting more than 100 HHs! This seems like a perfectly legitimate use of their HH feature, no?!!
