Looking for a skilled graphic artist

I need someone skilled in the arts of photoshop or some graphic creation program to create a main site logo for a new website I'm creating (non-poker related).

It's a retail site doing mostly women's fashion now but we're branching out later to other product groups. So if I find someone I like there should definitely be room for more work down the road.

How much should I expect to pay for a primary logo for a website ? By the hour or by the image? Where should I look for such a person, since I'm asking CTH for advice and not for employees?

I would start by checking out namepros.com

There is a design contest section where you can post a logo contest where you will get multiple submissions from people all competing over your prize.

I'd say you could get a good logo designed for $100 pretty easily. If you hire a graphic designer outright, you'll probably pay like $500 and have many fewer choices to pick from.

If you really don't like any of your submissions, then you didn't waste too much money trying it out. I've always been pretty happy with the work there.

See, Freakin made sure the thread stayed about graphic artists in general. You're turning it into Craig's List.

Stick with the general case, and we'll be fine. If somebody PMs the OP to give him more information on his general question, that'd be fine too.

It's a tough crowd because awhile back this forum had almost turned into a "paid help" forum. So many people were offering cash or poker site money transfers that it was getting out of control. Also, alot of people were coming on here looking to hire out people to do computer related work for them. It could have gotten out of hand but Sam stepped in.
