Default AC turned off - Can I do anything?

I am renting an apartment that has a utility budget of $80/month, which includes air conditioning and heat. I got a notice at the beginning of this month saying that in the lease I signed, it states that the air conditioning can be turned off at the beginning of october.

The only problem is that it is hotter than normal this year in october (90 degrees). So I am paying a utility budget but suffering through extreme heat (I have bought 3 fans and its not enough!)

I suppose I am screwed since it is stated clearly in the lease that they can do this, correct?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

PS Here is the line from my lease:

"Landlord will provide air conditioning to the tenant's apartment from approximately the middle of May, depending on the weather, to approximately the middle of September, depending on the weather."

There are most likely laws in place that state the temperature can't be allowed to get higher than a certain degree. Check with your city.

Fill some garbage bags with water and freeze them. Buy a new garbage can and fill it 1/2 way w/ water and put the frozen bags in. Place the can in front of the fan; it works wonders believe me.
