Duncan Dognuts Sobe Energy Drink Trip report
So I have seen the commercials, and decided to try it out. I am heading back to work, and see the DD on the way back. I hit the drive through and didnt see it listed. The whinny 16 year old voice comes over the speaker and asks if she can help. "Yes, do you have the new Sobe energy drink I have been seeing on TV?" A few seconds pass, and then she replys "Uuum yes you want one?" Gee I think to myself...."Well yes...what are the sizes? Is there a 24oz size?" Silence.....about 90 seconds later, "yes, please drive up" *SIGH*
So I drive up, they already have a hugh drink there ready to go, I ask if its the 24oz one, and she says yes. This drink I am looking at is clearly about 32ozs or bigger. But its already there so I'll take it. "Thats 4.39$ sir". What the [censored]???? I hand her a 5$ wondering if this stuff will really let me "Ripp stuff in half". I get the drink, and its ok, nothing special. an hour later i feel no different. I pick up a phone book, and try and rip it in half without any luck. SUMMARY: Forget this drink, go to 7/11 and buy a slurpee, and any one of the dozen or so, energy pills they offer at check out. You will get the same, or better boost, and have a better tasting drink all the while saving a buck or 2. |

Re: Duncan Dognuts Sobe Energy Drink Trip report
lol, $4+ for a giant energy drink seems pretty stupid (coming from someone who regularly pays $2.25 or whatever for little Red Bulls... maybe I'm stupid) and IMO the Sobe stuff tastes gross anyway.
For whatever reason this made me think of McSweeney's "Reviews of New Food" lol http://www.mcsweeneys.net/links/newfood/ A particularly good one: Mad Croc Energy Gum Submitted by Michael Winand Hypothesis: Ingesting two pieces of Mad Croc Energy Gum results in the same caffeinated boost as an 8-ounce energy drink. 10:00 a.m.: Subject begins chewing gum and immediately recognizes a distinct flavor similar to that of a handful of pennies. 10:02 a.m.: Nothing has changed. 10:04 a.m.: Subject has sudden urge to remake the Gary Busey film Eye of the Tiger using a cast of actual tigers. 10:06 a.m.: The idea is abandoned after the subject estimates the number of accidental deaths that would assuredly occur during filming. 10:07 a.m.: Subject spits out the gum after the flavor shifts from "pocket change" to "pocket change wrapped in Band-Aids." Conclusion: The subject could have received an equivalent energy boost from sucking on a few AA bateries. The taste would have also been similar. |
