Default NL 100; Big Blind with Trips Against 3-Bet

I just sat down on the table, no reads on villian. Is folding here +EV against an unknown?

Full Tilt Poker - No Limit Hold'em Cash Game - $0.50/$1 Blinds - 8 Players - (LegoPoker Hand History Converter)

SB: $97.50
Hero (BB): $101.00
UTG: $52.30
UTG+1: $123.25
MP1: $100.00
MP2: $59.20
CO: $78.60
BTN: $92.70

MP1 posts $1.00
Preflop: Hero is dealt 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (8 Players)
2 folds, MP1 checks, 3 folds, SB calls $0.50, Hero checks

Flop: ($3) 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 6[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (3 Players)
SB checks, Hero checks, MP1 bets $3.00, SB folds, Hero raises to $8.00, MP1 raises to $23.00, hero?

No way that you should fold this. I would put my stack in without even blinking twice.

Call and re-evaluate turn. Shoving is -EV because you don't beat anything that calls, errr maybe flush draw.

I agree with this. Your call should tell the villian u have flush draw or 8. Your kicker sucks. Take advantage of ur call and try to get a read on ur opponent on the turn. If flush hits, and he checks u check, if flush hits and he bets , u fold. If blank, it's all read dependent.

yeah man, i really hate this situation. WTF is he doing this with other than an 8 or possibly flush draw? I think most flush draws would call the 8 instead of raise though. I'm tempted to always think people suck balls w/o another read but there really aren't that many people who will get super aggro here with nothing, especially since he doesn't have any reads on you either.

One thing leading me to think we are good though is that he posted from MP1; it seems like he is really ready for action. If I'm within 3 seats of the BB I will always wait for it.

Long story short, I'd call and reevaluate like everyone else.

Leading the flop is much better here.

As played, fold...

Calling is terrible... This is a get it in or fold situation...

If you are weighting enough of his range to a FD that you can take a wait and see approach on the turn, then you should be willing to get it in on this flop.

If you think that he may have a better 8 or a boat and you are also waiting to see if he may have a FD then use the turn to determine, then you should be folding here.

You have to decide right here and now if you are going to get it in because you thinke has a worse hand, or if your are going to fold because he has a better hand.

Calling and seeing a turn card is just burning money...

do not c/r flop. the only hand that will play with you after that is a full house(assuming villain is not a total idiot)

as played you must fold
