Is the converter screwed up or am I missing something? Button raises to 40 then what happens to the original raiser, does he fold?

I don't understand why it is a good idea to check raise this flop. What is he going to check raise? The pot is so large that the only bet the other person can make would commit him to the pot, and I don't think he's trying to push all in with K/A here.
