Default two pair river action

I had been playing HU with villain for a few hands and nothing really interesting had happened, but I'd been folding a lot. we've played a bunch before, he seems somewhat reasonable. now it's three handed.

fishy button open limps, villain completes, I check K5s.

flop: K5Tr
check, I bet, fish folds, villain calls

turn: 2r
check, I bet, he calls

river: 8
check, I bet, he raises, I ????

Obv. this is between call and 3-bet. I'd lean toward calling because you have to call a cap here. His range is something like K8/T8/85/88 for things that improved. Given just that it's probably a close 3-bet, but many players have a propensity to slowplay sets and big two pair hands, which I think pushes it back to a call.

I would also c/r the flop unless sb is very passive. This is a board that it will often go fold, fold when you bet. So if the fish will bet it for you go ahead and take the action even if it hurts your IO a bit.

Edit: hmmm...This guy is pretty unlikely to have K8 here. That pushes it to a 3-bet.

Well I would assume this is his range:

K8, 85, T8, 88.

85 and T8 are 15 combos total.
K8 and 88 are 9 combos total.

Of all these K8 would be discounted the most with no flop raise so it's close to breakeven if you call a cap. It's a definite 3-bet if you'd never fold the best hand to a cap.

edit: fixed combos.

Unless I had history with this guy, I don't think I'd 3-bet this without intending to fold to the cap.

Hence, I'd probably just call, because I'm not that strong.

Well, I just don't see a "somewhat reasonable" capping with T8 here. Ofcourse this description is a bit vague, and since OP has played a lot with him, he would probably have a better feel for this.

I would 3-bet even if I couldn't fold to a cap, though. This is T8 a lot.

3-bet and call a cap. Folding after 3-betting on the river is just begging to get runover, and normally I don't get overly concerned about metagame stuff, but in a 3-handed/HU situation I really don't want to portray this image.
