Default If We Went Extinct,

If something happened which caused all of humanity to suddenly become unable to reproduce, and humans went extinct, would it be a bad thing?

Im not talking about castrating everyone or any physical harm like that, just some magic spell or sci-fi disease that only makes it so conception is impossible. The only harm that could befall us, is that which would result from not having babies.

If you think it would be good, why?
If you think it would be bad, why?
If you think it would be neutral, why?

The social repurcussions that I imagine would occur could negatively affect our lives, so that would be "bad" imho.

It would make sex a lot more fun though

Please clarify: are we only unable to reproduce physically?

Situations:
1. Man puts penis in vagina and impregnates woman.
2. Scientist puts sperm in egg and egg in womb.
3. Scientist puts sperm in egg and egg in artificial womb (ie "growing" children).
4. Cloning.

What assumptions should we make regarding the above?

Yes, it would be bad. People mostly have enjoyable lives. Putting an end to that joy would be a bummer.

If you voluntarily decide not to have kids you are ending joy in the same sense, no?
So do you think refraining from having kids is a bad thing? (assuming you could give them a great life)

Can we grow adult-sized humans or mechanically enhance existing humans?

I suppose there are two ways to address the propsed question:
1. ...if the current living popluation must be the last generation of humans.
2. ...the elimination of the human race without any effect on the planet.

Well, do you see any human growing labs around?
Lets go with option #1.

Refraining from having kids if I could give them a great life would be a shame, but it wouldn't be the end of the world.

Your scenario would be (at least for humans).
