After many hours of actual table experience, things that zipped over your head in the first reading become crystal clear on the second. (and the 3rd, and the 4th, etc...) Yay...another +50 year old...makes like 10 of us...btw it seems you are actually making a few $$ from poker so ignore the rude replies...your game probably exceeds 60% of the 2+2 community...

Re: My 1st post & how I found this place (warning VERY LONG)
welcome to the forums, you might try the 'Beginners Forum' to help get you up to speed with the rest of the site, all of the Poker related forums are great, and the off-topic forums are full of interesting posters and threads, you mentioned you were a bit older than what I would guess to be the average poster's age {18-30 males} so I'd recommend the EDF Forum for discussions with people who are more your contemporaries, and you never know what kind hijinks you're in for with those characters, you might try crossposting this there EDF

Hi and welcome. There are a few of us who are female and slightly older than the site demographic.
I agree with Durron's recommendations. I'd recommend you read and post poker strategy in the Full Ring forum. For general chit chat, off topic, community type posts, you might enjoy The Lounge. Of course there are many sub forums to choose from on the Main Page. Look around, explore, read a lot to get a feel for the site and you might find other forums that interest you. |

Very, very refreshing to read a thread without rude, obnoxious comments from sarcastic checkbox-ticking nerds and to see a newcomer actually being welcomed. |

Welcome. I read this thing the whole way through, and it reminds me of a time that I was really passionate about poker.

Re: My 1st post & how I found this place (warning VERY LONG)
pepitan - welcome.
don't assume that everyone here plays higher stakes than you do. When I started here I also didn't know the rankings of the hands. That was in 2003. I played freerolls and micro-stakes meaning mostly the .01/.02 games or maybe the .05/.10 games on PokerStars. There are still plenty of newbie players and low-stakes players in the various micro-stakes and beginners forums at 2+2 and there's a whole wealth of information around. Hang out in the beginners forum some also. You'll learn the abbreviations as you go. There's plenty of sarcasm around here, moreso in some forums like NVG than in others, and some general meanness around as well but just ignore that silly stuff and have a good time. |

I found your post very touching and interesting. I'm very familiar with SSI disability and know how hard things can be. Good luck to you.

I read the whole post and enjoyed it. It was certainly better written and more interesting than what I usually find when I travel to NVG.
