Although the sarcasm in House is entertaining....essentially every episode is the same.

Lets diagnose some rare ailment and cure them...every now and then they die. Where are my pain pills?

i assume The Wire has already been mentioned, this is my go to recomendation for tv dramas.

If you are into "adult" cartoons, (not porno, but cartoons meant to be watched by adults) i would recomend Venture Bros. There are two seasons out on dvd, and pretty much every episode is hilarious.

Firefly is a pretty fun sci-fi/drama/comedy series.

so you're going to hate me OOT, i have been trying to watch The Wire but i find it incredibly boring. i am intersted, i'm roughly 5 episodes in and it's a struggle to watch each episode.

i switched to Carnivale and i'm 6 episodes into the first season. i'm definitely going to watch The Wire, i have the first 3 seasons, just going to shuffle those to the side for now

The Wire was definitely pretty slow. I stuck it out until somewhere during the third season. I was watching them in my bed so it wasn't the best environment for getting into it.

On the other hand, I watched the final 5 episodes of Dexter in one night.

Deadwood = best show ever
Futurama = best cartoon ever
House = great show (if you are/want-to-be an [censored] to everyone you meet)

***Additional Heads-Up***

If you are interested in nature documentaries or anything like stuff the Discovery Channel shows, BBC had a series called Planet Earth that you can get in a 5-DVD set. I've watched a few of the discs so far and some of the footage is unbelievable. I'd recommend this to anyone I think could stomach the attack scenes.
