Norwegian man gets arrested for scamming
When somebody here scams you always hear: "nothing you can do about it since the poker companies are offshore, no legal claim, illegal gambling etc. etc.". I have always thought that was complete BS. Now Norwegian police has arrested a man suspected of gaining access to other poker accounts and transfering money out and chipdumping to other accounts. He is put in custody and the police is planning to charge him for fraud, they don't care if the server is located abroad and the legality of poker is somewhat unclear and I don't think US/Canadian police would do neither. A crime is comitted and he was on Norwegian territory when comitting it, thus punishable.

Re: Norwegian man gets arrested for scamming
It is about $60k, however the police says that additional charges probably will be put forward, but it does not state clearly if that is more fraud or something else.

Re: Norwegian man gets arrested for scamming
In the US, our police prefer to not get involved unless there's potential to shoot the suspects.
The again, any suspected crime is a good enough excuse for our cops to batter down the door and come in guns a blazin'! I guess it's only a matter of time before US cops murder someone suspected of online poker fraud. |
