Re: Senate majority, does it really matter?
They can't possibly get scummier than the Republicans have been lately as far as writing bills. I'd like to see them propose a Minimum wage increase which the R's will oppose and slip in something about tightening child predator laws so they can say the R's support child predator's...again, or something similar to how the OGB had been snuck in. But that is just a pipe dream.

Re: Senate majority, does it really matter?
Am I the only Omaha 8/b [censored] here thinking "SCOOOOOP!"
But yes, one of the previous posters is correct. Chairmanship is key here; many laws get passed because of negotiation afterwards and pleabargaining. But the laws come into place because of the chairmanships involved. The law anti-gambling laws put in place would not have even gone on the table if someone thought it was even worth voting for, something people in the Senate thought it wasn't. That's why it got attached to the Port Security Bill, but who attached it? The committees. |

[ QUOTE ] We may even see some Democrats screaming for a "nuclear option" . [/ QUOTE ] I'd be pretty disappointed if Dems started calling for a "nuclear option." I think it's tactics like that which eventually lead to the downfall of the repubs. (obviously tack on a bunch of scandal as well) [/ QUOTE ] LOL? It was over-the-top, sure, but it was also a fair response to the absurd judicial fillibustering that was going on. |
