Default Proposed Florida Seminole Compact

From the draft compact Part V(L):

"The Tribe shall conduct poker in compliance with all provisions of Florida law, including restrictions on ante and pot amounts. However, each Facility may hold up to 4 poker tournaments per year that are not subject to the limitations/restrictions imposed by Florida law, provided that the net win from each tournament is donated to a charitable organization pursuant to 501(c)(3)."

I interpret this section to state that there will be NO increase in limits and/or max buy ins ("all provisions of Florida law"). Do others concur?

Also, It's nice to see the carve-out for 4 tourneys. Perhaps we'll see a few major events, but without higher limits, I don't know if the pros will come to play.

Correct me if im wrong. Max buy-in for a tourney in Florida is $880.

The Indians are the only ones who can run a tourney for greater than this amount and then only 4 a year so I guess this would be 1 main event and 3 preliminary events >$880

The Indians won't do this because they must donate all money made to charity so what's the point plus their casinos are full now due to the introduction of NLHE so nothing changes.

The only gray area I see now is can a cardroom run a multi day tourney? I guess the answer is yes since the Ebro Greyhound is running a 3 day main event but keeping buy in at $870.

Looks like the latest (10/2) draft is much more favorable to the poker player. While it does not allow higher (than $5) stakes, it conspicuously does NOT include wording about following the state law on buy-ins. I'm curious however about the "hours of operation" rule. Does that mean that the poker room will only be open 12 hours a day, similar to the tracks?

"The Tribe shall conduct poker in each of its Facilities in compliance with provisions of Florida law that limit hours of operation, wagers and pot sizes."

why is that so shocking? 21 and over is the legal minimum age across most of the country.

I disagree. The only provisions in Floirida law that limit wagers and pot sizes are specifically the $5 max wager and the $100 max buy in in NL games. This implies they must follow the same rules even though it specifically does not mention $100 max buy in. However if there was no max buy-in then there will be no pot limits (think of $100,000+ pots like what we had July 1st though 5th). Pots are limited by the max buy in. I don't think this is favorable to poker players at all and I am sure the day the Seminole try to spread a NL game without a max buy-in, the pari-mutuels will go court to stop it.
