Villain is a solid tightish player, doesn't raise much preflop, haven't seen her get out of line.

Re: $200 PL Flush Draw + Top Pair
I think this is a reasonable play against the right player. If villain can fold a low draw without anything for high, this is probably right. You still are getting called by AA2, but AA3,AA4, and maybe even AA5 could find a fold too.
I would usually fold this preflop for the raise (I probably wouldn't even limp it) and usually just give up the flop, but if you have made a C/R with a big hand that got shown at this table then go for it. I find people tend not to respect check raises in this game which is why I prefer that I would have used it a few times. |

Re: $200 PL Flush Draw + Top Pair
This is definitely correct play. Pair + nut flush draw is very powerful, check some 2dimes scenarios and you'll see what I mean. Throw in some fallback low, and you're in great shape. BTW, here's an example of a situation where a significant amount of the time you're going to get scooped by a very good hand and have second thoughts about your strategy (Jorge, I'm talking about players like you). Just don't worry about it, many chips have been lost playing hands like this correctly when Villain's hand happens to fall at the bad end of his range.
Example: ***** Hand History for Game 3852419972 ***** $2000 PL Omaha Hi-Lo - Thursday, March 30, 11:38:17 ET 2006 Table Table 95179 (No DP) (Real Money) Seat 1 is the button Total number of players : 10 Seat 1: billhay ( $1208.62 ) Seat 2: tkoJoe ( $1073.79 ) Seat 5: tribequest ( $2157 ) Seat 7: a123letsgo ( $1135.48 ) Seat 9: HakAllah ( $2000 ) Seat 10: c4bangs4 ( $3451.36 ) Seat 3: saphire11 ( $2107.04 ) Seat 6: forthstooge ( $2944 ) Seat 4: grlsgrlsgrls ( $1907 ) Seat 8: VICTORIA1 ( $435.72 ) tkoJoe posts small blind [$10]. saphire11 posts big blind [$20]. ** Dealing down cards ** Dealt to HakAllah [ 7c As 8s 6d ] grlsgrlsgrls folds. tribequest folds. forthstooge folds. a123letsgo folds. Re: $200 PL Flush Draw + Top Pair
The play itself seems ok with 100BB stacks as there's $80 in the pot if they fold, and I don't figure to be worse than a 40-45% dog against hands that call.
But has anyone taken the depth of the stacks into account? (We have $430 each). sword guy...the converter doesn't work properly. It is hi/lo. |

Re: $200 PL Flush Draw + Top Pair
I really got to know if villain only makes this
move with AA2 or AA5. Is she that tight or will she raise a naked a2? If she just has an a2 here then this is very much +EV but if she has a234 or AA2 then you are behind. So very read dependent. So, I defently like the play if you put her on a2 or a24 or something like that. |
