Default Danny Elfman

We all know him from the many movie soundtracks he's done.

Any love for his previous job? Oingo Boingo.

I loved Oingo Boingo and saw them live a few times. They used to have great Halloween shows. Elfman's so talented. "Only a Lad" is just as good as when it was released. A lot of their stuff is silly and weird, like "Reptiles and Samurai," but still good fun in the same way some of David Byrne's dementia ("Animals," "Paper," etc.) can be. Lots of their other stuff has a great lyric zing to it, and the musical textures are always dense and fun.

I read somewhere about how they undeservedly remained mostly a west coast phenomenon. What a shame! These were some talented guys. I was really glad to see Elfman got a great career going even long after the band dissolved.

I loved Oingo Boingo even before I moved to the West Coast (we had a hip local radio station that played them). Their music holds up to this day.

never really liked Oingo Boingo...don't actively dislike them, either, I guess. Plus, I've never been a big fan of his soundtrack work.

I'm surprised you don't like his soundtrack work. Even if you don't like OB at all, his soundtrack work has been very popular.

Do you like the theme from The Simpsons?

Yes, I like The simpsons and some of his soundtrack work is perfectly fine...I'm just not blown away by any of it.

Although I thought his "Legend of Sleepy Hollow" perfect for the movie.

Oingo Boingo played one of the parties Rodney Dangerfield (Thornton Mellon) threw in the movie Back to School. They were great.
