Default opinions about a 2-5 nl hand at the borgata yesterday

been playing for 45 minutes-all junk starting hands. Finally get 88 in late position.Early position solid player raises $20 - 2 callers -I call.
Flop comes j 8 6 rainbow. Raiser bets $35 other player folds and I call.
A on turn. early player bets $55, I make it $155 to go, he shoves.
I have $550,he has me covered.
I call - he turns over AA- river is a blank.
I think I played it right, but was destined to be stacked.
I put him on AA,KK QQ AJ JJ AK.
So I could beat all of his hands except AA or JJ.
Thoughts and opinions?

C'est la vie. Not much you can do... I don't think so anyway...

Default What would a flop raise accomplish?

I felt my hand was strong enough to afford a slowplay.
Also I was afraid a flop raise could cripple my chances of g
etting a call on a large turn raraise.

Its not a matter of your hand being strong enough, its a matter of you getting money in the pot. If you want to 'win a g' you gotta start getting villians chips in the middle sooner rather than later.

Don't you think I would have a better chance of getting more of villians chips with a big turn reraise?
A flop raise may make him suspicious of a set and cause a check/fold to a large turn bet.
Appreciate your input.

I think calling the flop and raising the turn looks a lot stronger than simply raising the flop.

I don't think we have to necessarily bomb the flop...I think a smallish raise to $90-$100 will string him along and build the pot so its easier to get chips in the middle on later streets.
