Default 07 Mazda RX8 - Thoughts / Advice?

As some of you may have seen my other thread I might not be able to get the RX8 I wanted. Anyone have any advice/history with these or suggest other vehicles that are comparable?

Whatever you do buy American.

The Mazda RX8 is a fun little car to drive. I enjoyed the test drive I had in it.

It's definitely a fun car, but underpowered. It's probably best somewhere where you'll be in the twisties and at low elevation. You'll lose drag races against anything reasonable, but it's fun in the turns. The wankel engine is pretty cool and has a nice sound to it.

Why?

(serious question, I've never really understood that sentiment)

Their quality/efficiency has vastly improved and is equal if not better than a foreign. Why would you not want to support American companies?

It's true...however public perception doesn't agree.

And that, sir, is what sells most products.

The company you buy a car from is completely inconsequential in terms of "supporting" one country over another. Toyota has a bunch of plants in the US (as do most other foreign care companies). Many parts of Fords and other "American" cars are built overseas. It's all integrated globally now. Saying "Buy American" is just naive and foolish.

Buy whatever the hell you want to buy.

My Chevy Tahoe is comprised of a lower percentage of parts manufactured in the US than my buddy's Honda Accord.
