I would be shocked if Raymer, Moneymaker and Hachem weren't multi millionaires. And as former world champions they are obv the most in demand members of Team Pokerstars by the media and "fans". These three are also the three who would be in a financial position to turn them down.

Why do the Stones and Bob Dylan still go on tour? People like money, fame, and, ultimately I think people like work, too.

I wanna hear more about Jo(h)n Gale getting screwed by PokerStars, now that we've settled the rest of it.

More people should listen to shaniac.

...oh, and LOL @ comparing a PS sponsorship to "working for the man" or being a corporate drone. Insert obligatory LOL @ Tom McEvoy too.

I sat next to Isabelle Mercier at Monte Carlo trhis year. she had a camera pointed in her direction virtually non stop and was pestered for autographs and interviews in the breaks.

Do you really need this hassle when you are a multi millionaire?

[/ QUOTE ]

Camel, maybe she likes this kind of attention? Alot of people do.
And, in her case in particular, she is a far cry from being a multi millionaire.
Were it not for Team PokerStars, she could not afford to play in the EPT
MonteCarlo, or many of the other EPT events for that matter. For
someone like her, Team Poker Stars is manna from Heaven!

you don't act like this when you watch NFL on Sundays?

[/ QUOTE ]

No.

Also, I don't know if it's really douchey, but that robot dance at the final table was extremely retarded and not even slightly funny. It looked like he was waiting to win a decent pot just so he could do it. Maybe i'm wrong, I'm sure he's a nice guy or whatever, but that stuff gets old pretty quick.

Now if you want to talk about really annoying, Joe Hachem and his incessant whining and crying about how unlucky he was running at the 2006 wsop was sickening.

Also, this hand always puts a smile on my face, flinging your cards up in the air and yelling "I got the rockets baaaaaby"
Is douchey, tyty poker gods.

Shane, Shaun and sheets all made good points here.

Chris Moneymaker was not a multimillionaire the day he won the WSOP, he likely wasn't even a millionaire after taxes and splitting his winnings. Now he gets a guaranteed income, tourney buyin coverage and travels the world. Sounds like good work if you can get it.

Hime,

I sat next to Greg Raymer every night at the dinner table in Monte Carlo the year John Gale
was dropped, and he told me that this was basically a decision made by
the PokerStars European marketing team. I like John and was sorry to see
him dropped. But from a purely marketing perspective, it makes sense.
The growth segment of the market (at that time) was the 17 to 28 year old
American. And a dapper English Gent of 60 is not likely to have much
of a draw with that crowd. Certainly, someone like Elky is a much a better
use of marketing dollars.

Tough luck for a nice guy like John, but thats the realities of the business world.
