I don't see a huge problem with PA just running it once, twice, three times, or as many times as he and Jamie agree to.

The pot was pretty big, even for PA's standards and I think reducing the variance isn't a bad thing.

BTW. On season 1 and 2 running it three times meant that one player will scoop the whole pot. That's how I understood it. This was explained by Eli Elezra in one of the episodes where they ran it twice. Running it twice was better according to Eli has it gave to "even it out". I guess I understood the concept wrong.

[/ QUOTE ]

Running it twice basically means cutting the pot in half and playing it out twice.

Running it three times makes it interesting, because now one player can win two-thirds of the pot and that's what Jamie did.

This is my understanding of the concept. Correct me if I am wrong.

Against Jamie's actual hand, the EV Patrik gets from the possibility of a king turning is $13,275 (2/45 * $399,500 * 77.3%). The additional EV from an ace turning is close to 5K even without any additional betting, so the call is unquestionably good against KK. Jamie can have other hands, but versus weaker hands (AA or KQ say) Patrik has more kings to hit and Gold will have less outs once Patrik makes the straight, so it will probably work out similarly. If he has air there's the possibility he'll check behind on the turn, or that Antonius might turn a jack and have that be good. It's a fine call but not super obvious the way some are portraying it.

Weren't chips invented so you don't have to bother with the big stacks of cash?

i think anyone who says that PAs flop play is for sure optimal should pretty much never be allowed to argue a/b poker again.

[/ QUOTE ]

Wow, this sounds like a typical "it depends" comment to avoid talking about the actual hand. Nobody is saying its "for sure optimal", but its a pretty easy call in this situation against Gold (and remember I don't think Gold is quite as horrible as most people on this forum believe) and many other players with stacks this deep.

Anyway the argument came from limon saying: "huh? pa played horrible." which is just retarded.

I seriously think these threads degenerate into stupid arguments because some people feel the need to show how much better they are then the guys on the show. This hand was not particularly well played and it was not particularly poorly played either.

i bet if the situation were reversed, everyone would have torched gold for calling a 3bet oop w/ AJ and peeling a gutshot on the flop. not hating on patrick's play, just funny to see how the hate for jamie gold is so ridiculously awesome in here.

Just saw the show and it was great!
But can't we just agree that this hand pretty much played itself.
PA made a correct call (not great, not terrible)hit is hand and jamie pays him off, I don't see a lot of players folding top set in that spot and Jamie gold sure as [censored] ain't one of them. Tough for PA though, losing it 2 out of 3 when he is a 3 to 1 favorite.
