btw why have 2 people quoted my post and not answered the question that i asked in it. what eligible players do you think should be in the HoF, but aren't, and what are they ranked on the list?

clearly i don't believe the system is perfect, why the hell do you think i started this thread?

Eric Snow seems a little high. Not much of a shooter.

Don't back to back MVPs pretty much guarantee a spot in the HOF?

Oh damn, I guess you are going "non-gimmick" on this one...or you forgot to log out.

It seems to overrate scoring and underrate intangibles.

Gilbert Arenas .5785. So if Gilbert retired tomorrow he would be better than 50% to make the HOF? Also:

After trying numerous models, my final model had seven predictor variables:

1. height (in inches)
2. last year indicator (1 if 1960 or before, 0 otherwise)
3. NBA points per game
4. NBA rebounds per game
5. NBA assists per game
6. NBA All-Star game selections
7. NBA championships won

[/ QUOTE ]

I understand why he didn't want to use stats like steals, turnovers, and blocks. But I really don't think this is worth doing with those 7 variables, this is a very very bad list.

i imagine if someone objectively looked at the numbers, miller would be a borderline hof case. a higher scoring era inflated numbers, he was never much of a defender, he basically just scored and had a lot of memories and subjective data.

maybe our own bias for players in our era are clouding our judgments. do you see any players eligible for the HoF who aren't in it, who you think should be? how are those players ranked?

[/ QUOTE ]

Are you serious? You think my judgment is clouded on the fact that Miller is a HOFer?

I'd wager everything I own that Reggie is a HOFer, according to this guy I ought to get at least 20-1. Absurd.

[/ QUOTE ]lol 20-1? i'd take that in a second. reggie isn't 4% to get in but he isn't a lock either.

[/ QUOTE ]

Reggie Miller is lock.
25,000 points and being by far the career leader in 3 pt FGs made is enough, not to mention his playoff resume.

Ray Allen is in good position to break Reggie's record in three-pointers made:

Reggie: 2560
Allen: 1920

Allen's averaging 214 threes/year the past three seasons, so that's 3 seasons' work. i wouldn't say "by far."

Grant Hill: An example of what could have been. Injuries robbed him of too much to be this highly considered

College career may get him in.
