Default Set value VS Stacks

When should you play a low/medium pp for set value and stacking villian? I think there are 3 main criteria.

1. Position

I recommend being in position. You don’t want to call another raise behind you after you call a bet preflop.

2. Stats

What stats should a player have to be able to stack him? Please discuss.

3. Stacks

What are the chances of flopping a set with a pp? It’s 8.3-1 (10.8%)
We hit our set 1 out of 8.3 times.

So villain’s stack must be at least 10.8 * pf bet to make this +EV.

If (10.8 * pf bet) < villian’s stack  -EV.
If (10.8 * pf bet) > villian’s stack  +EV.

Am I right about this? It might be intresting for new players? Feel free to comment/correct!

There's a ton of posts on this already, probably somewhere in the stickies.

Search for the 5-10 rule and use it as a general guideline

It's not all that important, especially because you used the right percentage, but you hit your set 1 in 9.3 times. The fact that you are 8.3-1 means you will hit once for every 8.3 times you miss.

Don't mean to nitpick, but odds are a very fundamental and important part of the game and don't want anyone seeing that and doing odds calculations wrong in the future.

Seeing as we are nit picking..

A set or better - 8.51/1 (11.76%)
ODDS: 8.51 to 1. CHANCES: 1 in 9.51. PERCENT: 11.76%.
MATH: 1-[(48/50)*(47/49)*(46/48)]

I am bored.
