I've watched every Packer game this year, and Bigby is one of the players that has definately stood out as a weakness in the Packers defense. He is a good hitter and good at stopping the run. His problem is he gets burned way way too often. The Washinton game was a prime example. He also commits more than his share of penalties, and they always come at the worst times.

Actually, didn't he get flagged for offsides on that, or was that a different play?

Yes, but upon 2nd look it appears that he was not offsides.

He isn't leading the league in tackles. Gibril Wilson and Michael Lewis are ahead of him, neither of whom are all that good. My point was that tackles aren't a very good stat to judge safeties by. Safeties have to do much more than just tackle well. I don't know much about Bigby so I'm not really saying he is awful or anything, just that a sizable tackle total doesn't necessarily mean he is good.

I'm not saying Bigby is good because he has a lot of tackles. Trust me, I understand why you can't use that as your sole measuring stick. And I haven't been doing that either. He has an interception in the first Viking game that sealed the win for us. He has several forced fumbles, one of them being on Portis in the Skins game that was recovered by Hawk after Bigby hit him for a 3 yard loss. Yes, he gets beat on some plays. I understand that he's not Bob Sanders, but for a guy who's still pretty new, I don't think he's doing as bad as some people do. He's got a long way to go yet.

And Bigby IS leading the defensive backs in total tackles right now with 77. Wilson has 76 and Lewis has 75.

Not that it matters, but that's in one extra game.

Regardless, he's still really bad. Instead of starting him and Bush last night, McCarthy should have just inserted a string bikini and a comb-over into the starting defensive backfield, as they would have provided better coverage.
