Default Office colleague is driving me crazy!

I must be seated next to the most annoying person in the history of office seating that involves me.

I'll start from the beginning.

I moved to a new job two years ago. So far, it's been fine... boss is great, co-workers are great, don't really have to deal with clients that much. I don't have to work overtime, pay and benefits are really good, and my area is nice and quiet. So I am pretty happy.

Then, two weeks ago, a new person got hired and he is sitting next to me. This is the most incredibly annoying person ever. Everything he does is calculated to annoy me. I think he wants me to resign so he can get my job, or something (he says he is a "summer intern" but we all know what that means)

What I do OOT?

Here are some of the many annoying things he does that drives me crazy:

<ul type="square">[*]When reading the newspaper, he will rustle it when turning pages[*]After using the espresso machine, he doesn't wipe the nozzle or the cup-holder[*]He doesn't turn the shredder power off after using it, so it wastes 5 minutes of electricity before the auto power-off[*]When stapling things, he staples them extra loudly, just to annoy me[*]He types quickly on his keyboard, showing off his touch typing skills like the pompous gusto he is[*]Occasionally makes personal phone calls on company time[*]When using the photocopier, he doesn't change back from recycled paper to new paper and vice versa, so sometimes I need to print two times and wastes my time and wastes paper[/list]
I could go on, but this is probably enough for you to see what torture he inflicts on me every day.

Yes, this was like the "sup bro?" of office situations. Well done as always, g.

develop a close friendship and unrequited but full-fledged crush on a married female in your office who is willing to give it (but nothing else) up to you on a moment's notice, but refrain at all times from doing the deed, while still trying to maintain the friendship

you'll forget all about your current problem

after looking at your list of gripes, it sounds like you might be a bit touchy...

newspapers make noise
who cares about the espresso mess, you don't have to clean it do you?
do you pay the power bill?
how do you know he is stapling and typing quickly to annoy you?
why do you care about personal phone calls?
ask him to change his bad photocopy habits

Ask him to staple a pile of your comic strips. He will stop.
