Who DOESN'T call in that spot with those pot odds?!

[/ QUOTE ]

8cTc from a weak/passive chaser? or anyone chasing a flush with no pair perhaps?. he played it just like someone would to allow the flush chaser to think they could win the pot with a bet but who probably has a higher card than his 8?

or were you joking (so hard to tell here )

as far as the OP, a verb isn't two words generally is it? wouldn't it just be

strass (v): to check raise bluff a river where the opponents remaining stack is less than his river bet.

usage: I just strassed the donk with my 86. So I was busy strassing this guy when someone told him my word..

etc..?

please post examples of where this works against good players.

[/ QUOTE ]

People advance enough to use the "strass" are smart enough to avoid playing against good players.

I played a hand on UB a month ago:

25-50.

Villain bets 300 I call with 86s.

Flop A97 two clubs, i have no clubs.

I lead 300, he calls.

Turn blank 4. I bet 900, he calls.

River comes A, does not complete flush.

I check, he bets 2700 and I CR all in, he folds for 2000 more.

Strassa,

Not to add too much strategy to NVG, but perhaps if you explained the rationale of the move it would enhance your case for having this moved named after you.

I am dumb, so I don't quite understand when to use this move. If we take your above example, are you putting your opponent on a missed flush draw? If so at what point (so do you check the river giving up the hand and see his bet as scared and then realize you can take it away from him)? Or have you seen opponent on call flop and turn when weak and then seen him habitually bet the weak hand when checked to on river.

Some clarification for the dense, please.

i know everyone thinks this is always the best play on earth and wants to suck the toes of anyone who has ever done it, but sometimes it's just obviously the best play, and even preferable to check-raising if he had a bigger stack.

take strassa's example of an AAxxx board where there was a flush draw/straight draw and some other cards out there. you put him on a range of flush or straight draw, ocassionally a full house or an ace, and often one of the other random pairs. if you bet, you figure you'll get him to fold the draws, but oops a lot of the time he looks you up with the random pair hands. otoh, maybe he's the type of player who would always check behind with those, and maybe even some of the weaker ace hands. then if you check and he bets, his range narrows to a monster or a missed-draw bluff that can't even call a very small raise. now you're getting a very good price on the inflated pot against a preferable range -- especially with his stack being so small! this isn't magic, people

id like to name a poker move after myself as well. well call it the TStpwn. its when you checkraise the turn hoping to get 3bet and then shove allin on a pure bluff when the opponent is getting 10:1 odds to call.
