Default My First time reading the No Limit section of Super System

I'm sure this has been discussed, but I found it to be pretty vague and think it will lead new players to an extremely LAG style, which I don't think they can handle.

Is the second volume of super system much diff? did it change because of the times, the poker boom?

The section on NL by Doyle Brunson is almost unchanged from V.1 to V.2. The changes in V.2 occur in the other games that are included (ie. Draw is out but Omaha8 is in etc.).

I personally don't believe that playing the style advocated in Super System will show a profit because today's players are not as tight and most games have a capped buyin.

The capped buy in changes his values a little. But seriously, are you really gonna get stacked with pocket aces? Brunson seems keen on calling raises with 76s, for example. If you raise with aces, especially in uncapped, deep stack play like Brunson seems to be talking about, and get called, under what scenario is your opponent going to get all your chips? It's seems pretty far fetched to me. It doesn't matter how the board comes down, you can always assume you can be losing to a set. If you lose $5,000 after the flop heads up in a $5/10 game holding pocket aces, you deserve it.

There are aspects of SS's NL chapter that no longer reflect the way people tend to play. However, most of the concepts presented are still sound. It's not really beginner's advice, but that's not necessarily bad.
