Default is the 10k PLO a \"double chance\" event?

from the structure sheet posted on their website:

[ QUOTE ]
Players begin with $10,000 in Tournament Chips. Players may receive an additional $10,000 in tournament chips anytime during the first three levels. Any player that has not taken their add-on by the end of the third level will automatically receive it.

[/ QUOTE ]

I'm planning to play this event but I'm not in Vegas yet. As far as I knew, this was going to be a freezeout with 20k chips. Does anyone know if this is the same structure as other years, or if it has changed for this year, or if Harrah's are so incompetent they printed incorrect details on the structure sheet?

WSOP site says players start with 10,000, then can add 10,000 at any point in the first three levels. Any players who haven't taken it will add it at the end of the third level.

So it's like a $5,000 buy-in with one pre-paid mandatory rebuy/add-on.

I understand the structure as posted. It is like you say, except that you can rebuy no matter what your stack (i.e. you don't have to be < starting stack to rebuy). Right?

I'm interested to see if someone could confirm this is true, or if it could be another Harrah's mistake like the one on the ME structure sheet.

I think it is, and has been for the last couple years, a "double chance" structure, as posted. The buyin is $10,000 USD, you get 20,000 chips, half of which you can save until the end of level 3 (or if you bust the first 10,000 etc.) or you can start with all 20K at once.

i don't know much about tourney strategy just curious if its better to take the chips immediately or wait till you either busto the first stack or end level 3?

It's better to just take the chips immediately.

Not if your table consists of Ivey, Negreanu, Brunson, et al and they all take the 20k upfront. Better to wait until they give them to you or you bust.

thx Shane, all.

I think the correct strategy (for me) is to definitely not take the chips until at least the end of the first orbit, and to probably take them then.

Yeah, taking all the chips is for when you assume you're one of the best players. Also, not taking them right away may do wonders for table image, although I'm not sure how much it would matter.

edit: now that I think about it, if someone isn't confident enough to just take all the chips fairly early on, they probably shouldn't be playing in the tournament.
