Seriously though, if you guys are folding A5s utg, then PLEASE tell me that you're also folding AT-AJo [/ QUOTE ] I fold everything below ATs from utg. I open QKo and AJo+ Perhaps it's a leak? I run about 22/17 btw. |

Re: Preflop Question: Axs
That's way too tight Kilillan.
And ikestoys I said in my opening post that I'm aware of the situational nature of poker. Let's say for your sake that the table is completely unknown at NL200 but you know that table VPIP is 50%, 5handed. Everybody has some standards and I hope some reasoning behind these standards. That's what I would like to know, nothing else |

[ QUOTE ] I open QKo and AJo+ [/ QUOTE ] KQo and AJo are worse than A5s imo. [/ QUOTE ] except they actually play half decent post-flop I'm definitely not raising A6-A9s utg regardless of what's said Smaller aces are somewhat easier to play, but still. Meh. |

[ QUOTE ] I open QKo and AJo+ [/ QUOTE ] KQo and AJo are worse than A5s imo. [/ QUOTE ] Why? My average opponents are donks who call with any A and K. I can value bet 3 streets when I flop TPGK with KQo and AJo, with a hand like A5s you can't keep firing away on a A-high board and you don't flop a FD that often. |

[/ QUOTE ] If you are raising A7s, you definitely should be raising A2s-A5s. They are significantly better hands, IMO. When you have A7, how often are winning a pot because of your 7 kicker? |

[/ QUOTE ] Agreed...A2s-A5s > A6s-A8s and possibly A9s. Your 8 or 9 kicker is rarely good if you get involved...and A2s-A5s give you that extra shot at the wheel. FWIW...I almost always open any suited ace UTG. |

Re: Preflop Question: Axs
If the table is very passiv you can limp with A6s-A2s UTG but I find it very hard to play these hands post flop. If you get raised pre flop (after your limp) you will probably get HU in a bad postion and with a weak kicker. Off course there is players that will be able to play these hands better that me but I do not play weak Aces UTG.
I play A9s and A8s from the button. I open UTG with A10s if I find the table moderate aggressive. Wit a lot of LAG players I wanna have at least AJs UTG. I wanna have two ways to win, high card value and FD playing weak suited aces. |
