200/400 5 handed common but not so easy
New guy sits down and posts behind(unknown) SB is tricky and aggressive. Everyone folds around to the SB who raises. I 3 bet in the BB with 8s8d. Poster folds.
Flop JcQs2s SB checks, I bet, SB calls. Turn 4c. SB checks, I? Plans for turn and river? ( SB is definetly capable of check raising any flush draw/gutshot) |

Re: 200/400 5 handed common but not so easy
Hi,
I think I would bet and sometimes call a checkraise and reevaluate the river. If he's tricky we can't give free cards to 10 outers and kinda just have to grit our teeth and bet here. I could see cking behind and calling a river bet if it's a blank...but i think i bet here. |

Re: 200/400 5 handed common but not so easy
i almost always bet/fold this turn, maybe that's a leak.
edit: err not actually with the flush draw on the board. if there is only one spade i just betfold it. |

Re: 200/400 5 handed common but not so easy
everytime some1 posts in a 5handed game some shenanigans ensue and some1 gets out of line on some street.
i would bet all the way and calldown if CRed. |

Re: 200/400 5 handed common but not so easy
I think the turn is a bet - SB may be aggro but I doubt he checkraises without having you crushed considering the preflop and flop action, as well as board texture. Also, a free card isn't so good for you.

This situation against this opponent is a clear c/b on the turn planing to call any river.

Bet and play well. You can't give a free card in case you're ahead and he may call you with less than eights. If he raises, make a good decision.

Re: 200/400 5 handed common but not so easy
Disclaimer: I don't play anywhere near these high of stakes.
Is checking the turn that bad a play? That way we only put in one more bet and don't have to deal with getting faced with a turn c/r, which it seems you don't hav a plan for. All the responses I see say "make a decision if he c/r" or "play poker if he c/r", I don't see why you can't make that decision now? You aren't gaining any new information; either he c/r or he doesn't, so what is your plan if he does c/r? Possibly get bluffed off, or be forced to put in 3 bets with no idea where you're at. Checking is obviously the safer move, do you think you are gaining equity when you end up putting in another 1200 in a toss up? I know these games play very aggressively, wouldn't a check also possibly gain your turn bets more respect in the immediate future? |
