Default JJ overpair in a family pot

No reads on MP1 and MP3, theyve just joined the table. CO plays 50% of the hands and is LP postflop, but only has 5 BB left in his stack. SB has joined the tables some 20 hands earlier, from what I could see he is a pretty solid player.

Pre-flop: (9 players) Hero is MP2 with J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] J[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]
UTG calls, UTG+1 folds, MP1 calls, Hero raises, MP3 3-bets, CO calls, Button calls, SB calls, 2 folds, MP1 calls, Hero calls.

Flop: 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (20SB, 6 players)

SB checks, MP1 bets, Hero calls, MP3 calls, CO raises, Button calls, SB calls, MP1 calls, Hero ???

... I could be up against anything from straight over set to flush draw here... what to do? The pot is huge...

I'll post the results of the hand here later.

Cap that [censored] preflop.

Don't post the results. Results don't matter.

I'd raise MP1's turn bet, TBH, but as played, call down CO's raise and hope to see TT.

just call, there is no way you have the equity to 3bet.

I cap preflop

Flop is fine

I'd be tempted to raise the turn bet. I don't think he is donking the flop with 4x. He may have a boat, or this may be an odd way of playing a straight, 88-TT, 7x or maybe 75. After CO raises, I think we're in trouble, but you have odds to catch a jack, so call.

Uh, by my count you're getting 26-1 to draw to, minimum, two outs for a full house, which crushes anybody's trips, set, straight or flush. And unless MP3 pulls a weird call/3-bet, you're essentially closing the action.

Call call call. (And yeah, cap preflop and you should have raised the initial turn bet.)

Call, at least!

At this level, I don’t think it’s out of the question that you are sitting down with a bunch of fools. I suspect that 6-to-the-turn is more a reflection on the player’s abilities rather than the strengths of their hands. Your opponents could be (and should be) raising the flush draws. I think there is a decent chance that your overpair is still good (around 25%). With endless draws on the board for your opponents to pay for, I think I’d raise for value (it’s only 10c!).

….and yes, please post the result later!

There seems to have been a few of these types of hands recently.

Apart from capping preflop, you could call the flop and raise a "safeish" turn card.

You cant give anyone incorrect odds to call by raising the flop, but waiting to raise the turn might achieve that.

You will forego a little bit of value by not raising the flop, but hopefully you will gain more value and improve your winning chances by raising the turn instead.
