yeah kweli is the reason I started listening to hip hop, I had kind of dismissed it before I listened to the Black Star album. On that note if you like intelligent, articulate guys like Kweli, listen to Mos Def, probably the 'Black on Both Sides' album.

Jesus christ I'm listening to K-OS right now. This thread makes me so happy. Any of his 3 albums are really really good, but year I probably like Joyful Rebellion best. He's got a pretty serious alcohol problem right now.

yeh, when i saw k-os live a while back you could tell he was almost dependant on liquor. what other canadian artists do you like?? i've started listening to classified lately, and he is pretty good too.

Yikes. I've recently taking a liking to the song Fantastique by K-OS though.
Mos is sick, Talib, sick, Common, meh solid, you guys will probably like Lupe Fiasco too if you like those 3, Kanye, sick, also Hi-Tek, De la Soul, Strange Fruit Project, Gang Starr, and my boy RHYMEFEST BABY. |

I went through a huge hip hop phase in my late teens. Eminem at the forefront.
Bone Thugz - Crossroads for the win tho. Crowded House are the greatest band in the world. James Taylor is also awesome. |

Don't know if you guys have ever heard of Cormega, but he's pretty dirty too. Him and Nas are both from the Queensbridge area and were rivals growing up. The Saga (Remix) is his best work imho.

Y'all will like Let There be Light by Nas, and probably most of Hip Hop is Dead.
BTW Nas is so so so so sick. His list of gold just goes on and on, but I would say the bulk of it is more hood/angry. |
