Default Time to buy a new set of clubs

I played a bit in Highschool and used to shoot in the mid to low 80's. It's been about 5 years since I've played, but lately a lot of my coworkers have been hitting up the driving range and a local course everyday after work. I've played with them a few times, and am starting to get back into the groove. the only problem is that my clubs are too short and my club speed is WAY too high for the driver I have.

Are there any specifics places you guys would recommend, or brands you would recommend to me before I get hustled by somebody trying to make extra $$$ selling me a set of custom fit clubs.

P.S. I have a budget of about $1,300 for a set of irons and two drivers. I have the wedges and putter taken care of.

Thanks!
