Default 5CD - Are my calling/raising requirements way off?

For some reason I got the idea that calling a raise pre-draw in the blinds with KKxxx or AAxxx was ok. Or calling a pre-draw raise with AAxxx on the button, sometimes 3-betting if the guy fools around a lot. Except I got shown two-pair or better every single time tonight in 2 hours. Except once when I made 3 kings and ran into quad queens. It's not like I was at tight tables either - 90% of hands were raised pre-draw.

Here is my advice: Get dealt better hands than your opponents. Specifically, get better cards than that jerk who got the four queens.
I think that you will find that my advice is quite sound and that you will win lots if you simply follow it.

Ever hear of the "gap concept"? I'll let others elaborate!

This crap has been happening to me too. Even my pat straights run into better hands. I've had the SB call a raise with 4's and make quads at stars, and I've lost a big chunk of my bankroll this way...

But! The reason that you call with those hands is because of pot and implied odds, including the idea tha they may be [censored] around. I would even call a raise in the CO with ACES, or even loose than that depending on the player. In draw you want to start with the best hand, but you never know it's that true. The combination of times that your aces are good or you outdraw your opponent gives you the pot odds to call. Now, sometimes you "know" your beat, but in any multiway pot drawing to trip aces is basically worth i because any trips will pay you off.

Besides position, this is no differnt when you raise iwth Aces UTG and get called by kings or low trips in late position. It just sucks, even though the odds are that you started with the best hand. Becaues these games are filled with players who will make any straight or flush draw or draw to any trips the variance is a bitch but in theory i should be profitable in the long run.

I have yet to find this to be true, either.

That's where you need nicer blue jeans to call than you do to open, right?

Never liked GPS or many of the retailers, but I wouldn't
short it either.
