Default Median age of users

Interesting thing happening in B&M right now, we have a thread where everyone is listing their age so we can determine the median age of the forum. I was surprised to see it lean as old as it has been (the list is still growing, statistically we don't have an accurate reading yet), after always reading that the average 2+2'er is young I'm beginning to see that this may not always be the case due to the multiple communities that have been fostered.B&M tends to be nitty about rude posters - politeness and respect seem to be common themes for complaints against users (and complaints against me) in B&M, which is not as important to youth.

It would be kinda cool if you guys tried to determine the median age of your forums as well so have a better understanding of who our regular users are.

TT,

Or 2+2 could just make age a required field in userid when they switch over to new software.

I'm also really surprised that you are surprised about the age of B&M posters. Of course they skew way old for the site. That should be obvious without ever reading the forum.

TT,

I don't think it's surprising at all that B&M is so old. Have you ever looked around in a casino? Plus it's way more polite than most forums which = older to me.

I'll start a thread in Golf or Lounge if it seems like a good idea.

EDIT: also, pfapfap's avatar of the kid making devil horns drives me nuts. Can I delete it?

I was thinking 27-31, but its looking like we will see a median in the higher 30's once we obtain a .05% sample of the user base (crossing fingers, thats a lot of people). Some of the posters shocked me, like Howard Burroughs is almost 60... I never would have guessed.

PS: pfapfap is annoying at times (but i guess he means well), I wish he would change his avatar too.

thank you, yes I do. Both are small sample sizes, but the ATF demographic was older than I anticipated.

TT,

To be clear I have nothing against pfapfap, he seems very helpful in the Home Poker forum. It's just that some time ago someone posted about annoying online poker avatars and someone said "people who use pics of their kids". Power of suggestion and all that, now I get bugged by people who have pics of their kids as avatars, as weird as that sounds. It may not even be his kid, dunno, but I'm guessing it's pretty likely.

Also, let me know if you want me to start that thread in one of those forums, if the other mods haven't already. Thanks.

Would you feel better if I used a picture of your kids?
