Default Live 6/12 Game, KQo in the small blind

I posted this in the brick and mortar "Worst Strategy You've Heard" thread. Some people thought I should post it here and see how I actually played the hand. The details are slightly sketchy as the hand is weeks old at this point, but heres she sits:

6 or more players in the pot for a flop of KT4 rainbow. I am holding KQo in the SB and didn't raise pf (probably should have but whatever).

I check and the guy on my left bets. At least 3 people call him and I check raise (I was hoping to check raise a late position better, but hey, you can't win them all). Everyone calls. The guy on my left is a drooling idiot stuck 600 in a 6/12 game.

The turn is a 3 of the fourth suite for:

KT43r

I bet out, and only the drooling idiot calls me. River pairs the ten. I bet out, and the drooling idiot calls again. MHIG.

Comments on all streets welcome. The post in brick and mortar is here:

I'd just bet the flop since the pot was unraised and you can't count on anyone betting for you.

Right. I think the more interesting question is what do we do after hero checks, idiot bets and all those callers come along.

I apologize for the badness of the post (with results and all), but I wanted to keep the wording the same as it was in the "worst strat" post in B&M.

The best reason to bet in this spot is that a worse hand can help shut out the field and you can 3bet, rather than possibly whiffing or trapping the field for two bets oop.

I'm just completing preflop also. Definately raising KQs though.

Leading the flop is my default play. I think your line is a close alternative though. As played checkraisng the field for value is definately good.

Turn and river are very standard.

preflop I just limp (complete)

Flop play is fine, usually bet but you don't have to do the same thing every time. This functions as a higher-variance pseudo slowplay and you can play QJ or a 2p/set the same way

It's not a huge disaster if it checks through and you bet the turn because someone who makes a pair on the rag turn will now call. Plus the pot is relatively small. Only an A on the turn really sucks.

Board is rainbow so you're only "worried" about broadway straight draws.

Right on.

Preflop, turn and river are super-standard. I think either c/r'ing or betting out the flop are fine. It might get checked around sometimes, but c/r is good for protecting your hand if the bet is from late position or for value if it's from early position as it was here. NH.
