Default Avg. Finish Distribution

I've recently been introduced to Officialpokerrankings.com and I'm wondering whether people look at the Average Finish Distribution statistic as an important one for an MTTer. I know there is a very heavy focus on ROI around here (as there should be), but how useful can AFD be? How large a sample size do we need for this distribution to be statistically significant? What types of distributions are +EV? How much does all of this depend on buy-in level?

For those not familiar, here are two distributions for a couple top players with great ROIs:

vietcong01 (2007)

Early (first 10%): 15%
Early/Mid (next 20%): 24%
Mid (middle 40%): 36%
Mid/Late (next 20%): 14%
Late (final 10%): 10%

Crazy Zachary (2007):

Early (first 10%): 1%
Early/Mid (next 20%): 9%
Mid (middle 40%): 49%
Mid/Late (next 20%): 26%
Late (final 10%): 15%

Do you guys look at/care about this stat?
