I hate retail stores so I buy a lot from Amazon, but I miss the instant gratification, so prime helps.

It's not just that it's great to get stuff in a day or two, but that Amazon's normal service has sharply deteriorated, as far as delivery time goes

[/ QUOTE ]

This has actually pushed me into not using amazon instead of signing up for prime. They are basically forcing you to do one or the other these days if you care to get your items in a reasonable timeframe.

I got an electric snowblower overnighted to me last August for $3.99 more. Made me feel like its worth it.

I use it often enough that I think its worth it.

Shipping for free on Prime vs. 3.99 for a book, or even more, when buying used.

[/ QUOTE ]

You should be saving ~$10 per book bought, though. Toss in games and other electronical stuff and you can save even more.

Perhaps a snowblower-driven hovercraft project.

i've been recently getting a few packages a week from amazon and love having amazon prime. it's very nice getting the packages asap and not having to wait for other items to be in stock. i'd recommend it if you buy a lot of stuff from there.

I fell in love w/ the idea until I realized DHL handled a majority of the prime shipments in my area. They already butchered two separate orders and the only shipment station remotely close to here you'd need a bullet-proof vest to feel comfortable going to. I've had like 4 DHL drivers insult the company for not having a union for their employees and making $8-10/hr. on 12 hr routes.

So in my situation the extra money isn't worth the expedited shipping if those handling it are illiterate, under-handed [censored] who are routinely late and the punchline of parcel couriers.
