MTT preflop VPIP/PFR
I used to be somewhat successful in tournaments, but I feel playing alot of 6-max cashgames have really destroyed my tournament play. I am a LAG in these games I guess (around 27/22), when playing MTTs I often find myself playing overly aggressive and loose preflop as a result of the cashgames.
I know there are no golden rules of preflop frequencies, but in what ranges do you winning tournament players find yourself approximately? (VPIP/PFR ranges) |

Re: MTT preflop VPIP/PFR
I'm ~18.5/11 since I started playing again, but like you before playing MTTs I was a limit 6-max guy. I've tightened my game up considerably in the past week, before then I was somewhere around 21/13. I'd estimate your average 2+2r is somewhere in the range of 15/9, but I could be wrong.

Notice that the average is pretty useless. Hope this makes sense. |

Re: MTT preflop VPIP/PFR
Yeah you're right Sherman, as the blinds rise and your stack gets smaller it forces you to become more aggressive and open, shove, or attempt to steal with hands that you normally wouldn't play. I just kinda meant as a baseline at the lower blind levels d:
coatsie: your ratio is simply your vp$ip/pfr (volume voluntarily put in pot/preflop raise %). So in your case, 30/16 (which is quite high). |
