Default If your going to AC - trip info

This is what I learned during my most recent trip to AC which was Thursday and Friday (11/8-9).

I’ve read some things about staying in AC in this forum and I’ll reiterate these items now based on experience.

For good Hotel deals and extremely convenient access to the best Poker rooms stay in Absecon, pronounced Ab-see-ken, I had previously seen the name and thought it was pronounce Ab-se-con.

There are a lot of hotels on 30 East (Absecon Blvd) about 4 or 5 miles from the Borgata and Harrah’s and 5 or 6 miles from The Showboat and the Taj.
Route 30E actually ends at the Showboat so if you are driving east coming from Absecon and cross Pacific Ave you will be in the main entrance of the Showboat and the parking area is right there on the right.
The Taj Poker room is right next to the Showboat.

Getting from the Showboat to 30W towards Absecon just as effortless, just drive straight out and that’s 30W also known as Delaware Ave. You’ll see the entrance to the Borgata and Harrah’s on your right as you drive west.

If you have ever driven through traffic on Pacific or Atlantic Ave in AC you will appreciate this. Route 30 is a straight shot in and out of downtown AC.

I stayed at the HJ Express it was clean and the front desk was very courteous. There is a refrigerator in the room and a free continental breakfast. The cost was $33.00 on Thursday and $58.00 on Friday.

The Showboat Tournaments are fun and well run.
- There are no Antes at all, and they are NOT in a hurry to get the tournaments over with.
- Talking about a chop at the final table is not allowed.
brag: I played in the Thursday night 7:00 pm tournament and placed 5th for $236.00.

I was short stacked after the first 2 levels and for the remainder of the tournament I fluctuated between 3 and 8 BB so every hand I played was an all-in and I hit ‘em all – talk about luck.
The most memorable was at the final table 8 players remaining and we were all in the money.
Blinds were 1000 / 2000
I had A [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Q [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] utg I go all-in for about 8000 2 folds and a decent player with a big stack whom I had already doubled up on at least once during the tourney, thinks for a while and says “I’m not worried about him” (meaning me) “but everybody else to follow” and mucks his cards. One of the cards flipped over and the dealer turned both up and he had AKo. I don’t think he appreciated his cards being shown, I know I wouldn’t have.
It gets folded to the BB and he says “Thanks, I’ll take him” and he calls and tables A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

Somebody’s says to me “Your queen is live!
Flop is something like 5 8 10 rainbow and somebody yells, “He’s gonna hit his queen”
Sure enough the turn was a Q (they groaned) and river was blank so I doubled up and made it to 5th place when I went all in with 66 and everybody called. A Big stack with K 10 flopped a 10 and IGH.

I played 1-2NL most of Friday at the Showboat and the Taj. I finished up about even after 2 sessions. 1-2 at the showboat is pretty mellow, 1-2 at the Taj on Friday was nuts.
